4th of July

As usual we traveled down to Dayton and spent 4th of July with my parents. This year was especially fun because Melanie was able to spend it with us. Dayton still allows you to light your own fireworks which Shaq and Mekhi love!! It was a nice restful weekend and of course the guys got in their ping pong time.

Hoopfest

We stayed quite busy the last weekend in June. Normally, Melissa and Eugene play in Hoopfest with Melanie and Melissa's cousin James in the co-ed division. This year Mekhi had a team and Eugene played with Melanie, James, and Justin (Melissa's cousin). So we had 2 teams which kept us hopping! The weather was the hottest weekend of course so the heat didn't help much-but everyone survived.

It was Mekhi's first year playing and he did great!! His team won his first game and Mekhi scored more than half the points!! His team ended up being 2-2, not bad for hardly having any basketball experience nor practicing together.

Eugene's team-"All in the Family", expected to win the division. We were 2nd last year and of course-should have won. They were in a lot younger bracket (college aged kids) this year and lost the first 2 games and won the last 2. So yes they were champions.........of the loser bracket. At least they got an extra t-shirt as "13th place".

We all had fun and had a good time getting together with family. Melissa hopes to be back next year and help the team to a real championship! (hopefully we won't be in the young and in shape bracket next year)

Big Bros

Zenobia got to meet older brothers Shaquille and Mekhi for the first time in June. It seems she has a couple of proud big brothers!!
