Snowstorm

Our driveway and the huge birms!

Eugene and neighbors helping a truck get unstuck

Looking out our front door

Our front steps before I shoveled-the snow was level with our porch

Our little snowbunny!

Record Breaking Snowfall

In 24 hours we had 19.4" of snow fall-a new record. For 2 days it snowed heavy and consistently and for the 3rd day in a row it's still snowing-lightly, but accumulating nevertheless. On Thursday most businesses were closed, even the postal service didn't deliver mail. The roads were awful and news anchors were telling people to stay home if possible. Are we in for another snowbound winter?

Our deck and BBQ and table almost completely covered with snow

Door leading out to our deck-the snow is taller than Zenobia!

Our neighbor helping Eugene shovel out the driveway

I'm shoveling the walk-a day earlier Eugene shoveled about 4 inches from this walkway and 24 hours later it's already past my knees!!

Mel & Brian's Wedding Shower

Over Thanksgiving Eugene and I threw Melanie and Brian a his and hers wedding shower. It was a lot of fun-here are some pictures.

First Thanksgiving

I had to work for Zenobia's first Thanksgiving, one of the downsides to working at a hospital, so Eugene and Zenobia met me in the cafeteria on my lunch break. We missed out on my parents' big Thanksgiving celebration and good home cooking-but we had fun just the three of us. We went down to Dayton after I got off work so we had some leftovers the next day....yummy!

Morning Sunshine

Now that Zenobia has mastered pulling herself up, that's all she wants to do from the minute she wakes up. Here she is in the morning waiting for us to come and get her. She always welcomes us with a huge smile, our little morning sunshine. She sure didn't take after me on that one!!

Melissa's New Job

In September I started a new job at Sacred Heart Medical Center. I work on the Neuroscience floor as a health unit coordinator. My job is to process doctor's orders and assit the nurses with clerical duties. It's been a great job and the people I work with are wonderful. My first 6 weeks were in training and was full time which was a little tough, but we managed and the hours are great noq. The best thing about this job is Zenobia doesn't have to have any childcare other than Eugene and I. I work 20 hours a week and in the evenings, so when Eugene gets home from his job, I leave for mine. The downside is I have to work every other weekend and some holidays. All in all it has worked out great for us and we are happy and blessed with this new job.

Singing Snowman

Mom and I saw this cute snowman at the store and had to get it. Zenobia absolutely loves it. It sings while it's head bobs back and forth and up and down. As you see in the pictures, she wrinkles her nose and takes a couple breaths in/out of her nose when she gets excited. She just started this a week ago and that's all she's been doing, especially when she gets a laugh out of us. Eugene taught her this when he changes her stinky diaper and now it's nonstop. It's so cute. The picture is a progression of her with the snowman from the start of the song to the end. You can see the snowman completely in the last 2 pics. As of yesterday I put the snowman away for a little while......it's cute, but Christmas is still another month away.

6 Months Old

It's hard to believe that we have had Zenobia for half a year already. Time is going so quickly!!! Too quick. She is already crawling and pulling herself up. Today I came into her room to get her after her nap and she had pulled herself up and was standing on the side of the crib just looking and waiting for me to come through the door. Time to lower the mattress!!! At the rate she's going, she may not need to "ride" down the aisle at Melanie's wedding-she may be able to walk!!

The time has come

Zenobia is officially crawling as of this week. She has had a little progession every day for the past 2 weeks. She finally figured out how to shift her weight on her hands, then she would move her hand 2-3 times then shuffled her knees behing her. Now she is coordinated with moving the opposite arm and leg at the same time. When she gets tired she still goes to her little hop, but I think it's fair to say, Zenobia is crawling. The pictures are of last week-she figured out how to move on the wood floor in no time.

Hello, anyone there????

There's no more sneaking in to peek on Zenobia as she's waking up anymore. She can hear us coming the minute we reach her door. As we walk in her head is cranked around as far as possible to see who is coming to get her. As soon as she sees us, she smiles from ear to ear and starts flapping her arms and legs. Just in the last week, she has been pulling down her crib bumper to look through the slats. That is how she looks for us now and is usually already turned in that direction.

Get Ready Mom & Dad....

Just want to get my butterly
Such determination......up on her toes!
She's trying to grab her shadow-although you can't see it in the pic
Off the blanket........again
There's her butterfly-going after it once again

.....because here I come!!!! Zenobia is almost crawling and we can't believe it!!! She scoots herself in a complete 360 degree circle when she's on the floor. I'll lay Zenobia on her tummy on the floor facing the fireplace and before you know it she's facing the complete opposite direction. She's also been maneuvering herself off the blanket as well by using her arms and feet to push and pull to get around. Her motivation is the butterfly Grandmama and Pop pop gave her. It is adorable with flapping wings, nursery songs, and a cute waddle-Zenobia's favorite toy. The last couple days she has really been getting herself up on her hands and knees(rocking) and propels herself forward by scooting her knees a little and also piking her heiny up in the air and pushing off her toes. It may take her a while but she usually gets what she wants.....the butterfly!
